Rhodes, Bobby Rush create new version of “America the Beautiful”

With a career that spans the better part of 70 years, blues icon Bobby Rush could easily rest on his laurels and enjoy the twilight of his life in quietude.

However, as fans surely know, nothing would be more out of character for the rambunctious octogenarian. In fact, Rush seems to be working overtime these days, adding to his impressive resume on a seemingly weekly basis — including a concert Thursday, July 1, and a new collaboration with Rhodes College.
